1926/1993 (ca.), extraordinary accumulation of stamps, covers, postcards and photographs documenting the disovery of the polar world. Highlight of this lot are five photographs taken by the Czech profesor František Běhounek (1898–1973), who travelled to Spitzbergen on the cruiser Heimdal in 1926 to measure electricity in the atmosphere there. Furthermore there are six letters and documents of the Byrd Antarctic Expedition 1928/1930 including a letter and a signed potrait postcard of Václav Vojtěch (1901-1932), the first Czech to step food on antartic soil. In nine albums over 750 covers and postcards of stations and expeditions and on the topic can be found, among them eleven Zeppelin Polarfahrt covers. The collection covers many countries, but most pieces are from the USA, Japan, Germany and France. One album with MNH stamps maps the fauna of the artic territories.
