Collection of approx. 200 letters (letter contents)including many decrees from the so-called Revolutionary Period, most generally dated according to the French Revolutionary Calendar valid from 22 September 1792 to 31 December 1805. The illustrations which are in French described as signettes on the letterhead are partly coloured and obviously all different with typical revolution markings (phrygic cap on rods bundle, trikolore, cockade, Marianne etc.). All are complete and only a few have tolerable defects due to the age (small tears, patina). Many of the pieces originate from the French heartland for example from Toulon (navy), Strasbourg, Cherbourg, etc. Many of them are decrees or letters of regiments (here also in connection with Swiss in French service or prisoner of war), letters from the forest administration and police administration etc. You will find also some "PP" stamps with the "Bonnet Phrygien". A whole section descends from occupied territories (Departments Conquis), predominantly the area of today's Italy. We saw letters from Alessandria, Novi Ligure, Bassano, Rovigo, Milano, Palma, Fossombrone, Cesena, etc. An additional section of about 65 folded letters shows the revolutionary names for the years, months and days from this time by means of arrival stamps as well as letters with the so-called Departement Postmarks from this period also from the French mainland departments and the Departments Conquis. The collection is affixed on black sheets in the format DIN A3 (approx.) and labelled with white ink and has been untouched for decades. We auction without removing single sheets, although each item would be suitable as an individual lot. Such a collection of straight museal character would scarcely be present again in private hands. It is probably an unique opportunity to acquire material of such historical and post-historical significance, which represents the most recent event in modern European history.
